A Letter from Father Tom

Dear Friends

I have started my letters to “friends” in many different places such as the rectories of parishes that I am visiting, picnic tables at rest stops along some interstate highway or maybe in my recliner at home, but never as I am giving an entrance exam. While the hopeful young person is filling in a bunch of circles, I am starting this letter. This is the first Saturday in June and the last Saturday that I will be in Kentucky until September.

The NHS application packets have been handed out. They must be returned to Jennifer Shepherd Harvey on or before March 16th. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

Introducing the New Salyersville Bus

The new Piarist School bus just arrived, and its inaugural run will be on Monday, August 18. It will pick up students from Salyersville and from the Mountain Arts Center. Fr. Tom will have the new bus schedules available at the Park Day on Friday, August 15 at the Spillway of Jenny Wiley State Park. The cookout for students and parents will begin at 5 pm and schedules will be distributed then.

VolleyKnights’ scheduling!

The Piarist VolleyKnights have been having quite the season this year and will round it out in grand fashion. October 2 – the Lady Knights will travel to South Floyd at 6 pm. October 5 finds the VolleyKnights playing a double header at Redbird at 10am. October 8, the VolleyKnights travel to Paintsville at 6 pm. October 10, Pike Central will take on the VolleyKnights at home at 6pm. Two away games quickly follow on October 14 at June Buchanan and Breathitt County on October 15. The season will round out with Senior Night on Ocotber 17th at 6pm as the VolleyKnights take on Prestonsburg Black Cats.

Midknight Madness

This year’s Midknight Madness is scheduled for October 16 at 7pm in the Piarist School gymnasium.
