Mrs. Duna Combs

To Our Piarist Family

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we reach out to everyone tonight with news that our beloved Mrs. Duna Combs passed away on Sunday, December 20 after battling a long term illness.

Mrs. Combs taught studio art, art history, and countless other art classes at Piarist for over 20 years.  Her passion for teaching inspired a love of art in generation after generation of our students.

She was beloved by students and faculty alike.  From seeing joy at the smallest things in life, to traveling to France, and even skiing with friends, Mrs. Combs’ love of life inspired us all. Our hallways and hearts will be duller without her light. We are all better for having known and worked alongside her, and we know that many of you feel the same way.

Visitation for Mrs. Combs will be held at her home on Sunday December 27 with the Rosary at noon, 3pm, and 7pm. There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Martha’s Church at 3pm on Monday, December 28 that is open to the public;  however, due to COVID gathering restrictions, the family would like to invite everyone to join the livestream of services via

Romans 12:15 tells us, “Rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn.”  This week we will do both with this family.  We will all rejoice at the memories of a life well-loved, and mourn for the loss of our coworker, our teacher, and our friend.
